Brad Friedel named U19 US Men’s National Team Coach

Brad Friedel, the former US Men’s National Team Goalkeeper and Tottenham, Aston Villa, Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool star, was today confirmed as the Under 19 US National Team Coach. Friedel, who retired at the end of the 2014/15 English Premier League season, will complete his UEFA Pro Coaching License this summer.

“I would like to thank US Soccer for this opportunity in helping to develop our young players into full internationals and professionals.  The last 4 years I have focused my coaching at the academy and developmental levels, and I am excited to work with Tab Ramos and the entire committed youth national team staff to increase our levels of development here in the US,” he said.

Brad holds the record of consecutive appearances in the Premier League, 310; and played a total of 668 club games in his professional career. He represented the US in 3 World Cups: 1994, 1998 and 2002, and amassed a total of 82 International Appearances for the USMNT.

He currently serves as an analyst with Fox Sports, and as a US Ambassador with his former club, Tottenham Hotspur.
